On November 1, 2013 there is a change to the water restrictions. From November1-March 31 each year of Stage 3 water restrictions, irrigation systems for landscape/lawn watering changes from once per week watering, TO once every two weeks watering. This is due to needing seasonal adjustments to watering, as it is not necessary to water once per week. Normally, our late fall/winter precipitation rate is sufficient to keep our dormant landscape alive without supplemental irrigation, and only if abnormally dry to we need to water. I have attached the flyer that will be mailed next week to all residents and commercial properties in Allen for use in planning.
Please remember: There is not additional watering allowed for new landscaping or sod replacement in existing neighborhoods during Stage 3 with spray irrigation systems-only the day designated is allowed for watering with sprinklers for lawn areas. Any cool season grass species is prohibited in the City of Allen, and never is overseeding with a cool season grass allowed. Soaker hoses or drip systems are allowed to water additional (if needed) for trees within a 10 foot radius of its trunk, shrubs, or foundations only during Stage 3.
Several residents have requested water variances for watering sod that their HOA sent letters to replace sod. During Stage 3 water restrictions, additional lawn watering will not be granted variances, and is not allowed in existing homes. ONLY new construction will be granted a 30 day watering variance.
If you need additional information, please let me know.
